There is a lot of speculation about dehumidifiers. They do work but be aware of unsubstantiated claims.

Optimal humidity should be 30% to 50%. Large-capacity dehumidifiers tend to remove more water per energy used. Expensive ($300+) dehumidifiers often come with the pump to automatically remove water from the container.

However, if you do not mind that little manual work then $170-$200 appliance should do the job. Gadgets on dehumidifiers (digital displays, timers) are important to monitor humidity. However, they do not guarantee independent readings.
